"Containment" Information and Measurement System

"Containment" information and measurement system is designed for measuring the parameters of temperature, force (tension), linear strain, linear motion of the NPP reactor plant containment, used for monitoring and evaluating its stress-strain state.

Physical parameters are measured by string measuring converters embedded in the containment of reactor plant during its construction; the converters are inaccessible for dismantling during the entire operation time of the system.

The system principle of operation is based on measuring physical parameters by string converters/gages, converting them into electrical signals, converting the signals by the measuring switchboard of string converters into a digital code and transmitting them to the workstation PC that processes measurement results, accumulates, stores, and outputs information for further use.

System consists of:

  • a set of string converters / gages (PT) embedded in the reinforced concrete of the containment during its construction
  • switchboard of string converters (SSC)
  • cable set
  • workstation
  • software
  • switch cabinet

System software provides for implementation of the following functions:

  • continuous diagnostics of component parts by the switchboard of string converters
  • input of source data and its editing
  • system configuration control
  • retrieval of information with recording the measurement time
  • processing of measurement results
  • saving measurement results in the database
  • generating reports on measurement results
  • issuance of reports (reference information) on the system operation for the period specified by the operator
